Of Shower Caps and Shopping Carts

The school's Annual Mass Run took place yesterday, and boy, was it a day of sweat and sun. I had to wake up at 5am just so that I would have enough time to buy ice and find a parking lot just at the reservoir.
The first 4E2 student that I saw while waiting at the carpark was Tri. He was walking past the car (and looking slightly lost, I might add), so I flashed my headlights at him. Soon, we were met by Sean, then Ben and Ka Yan, so we lugged some of the stuff to the grassy area and found a spot to lay our picnic mats so that we could set up shop. Angelina came with a monster of an ice box and I had to send Ben and Vorawan off to buy more ice, because the three measly packs I had bought were not nearly enough. The good news is, we managed to sell of EVERYTHING!
Two of our classmates did extremely well during the run, coming in the top 10 category for the 'B' Boys' and Girls' Division. Fitriah did the girls proud and Joseph managed to clinch 2nd position for the Boys'! Well done!
Oh yes, I must applaud Chi I as well. He now has won my votes for being the most sporting student in class! He willingly donned on a shower cap, tied a towel around his neck like a cape, and hung some manner of stick or tube or pipe to his waist band. You should check out his pictures when I post them up!

Many thanks go out to the bunch who went shopping with me on Friday afternoon - Ben, Sean, Meizhen, Tri, Vorawan, Yuehan and Wen Feng. It was heartwarming watching them discuss business strategies as well as the odd topic now and then. I realised that I had been teaching this group of kids for almost 4 years, and how I would miss them (and everyone else) after they leave this year. Oh well, though it's hard to let go, I suppose it's a new chapter of our lives that we must all be prepared to begin.

Till the next post.
